Audio in compressed video clips

Aug 21, 2015

Hi there,

I have compressed video clips with Xilisoft Video Converter, which successfully play on Windows Media Player. However, when I insert them into Storyline 2, the sound changes - you can hear the music but not the speaking. Any idea how to fix this? (You can hear the speaking in Windows Media Player).

To anyone out there,

I have always been able to compress video, with voice over files and
publish into Articulate.
Before publishing the video and audio works perfectly. I have used 10
different conversion tools,MP4 and FLV all tried... once published, all
video aspects work in articulate preview- *EXCEPT the voice over is
lost...gone....*.

This has never occurred before in 30 other projects. HELP !
Definitely seems like an Articulate update issue ( I have run all the
recent updates).

Hi Leslie

Thank you for your reply.

I have inserted video clips into Storyline 2 many times before, from
YouTube or videos that was sent to me via Dropbox. Because I have to upload
the course onto an ELP, it must be smaller than 128kb and that's why I
usually compress the video with Xilisoft. If you have another program that
you can recommend, I will gladly try it out.

However, I don't think the problem lies with the compression or video clip
or Xilisoft, because after compression it works perfectly when played on
Windows Media Player or ArcSoft Total Media. The video clips that I am
battling with have music in the background and a person speaking. But as
soon as I insert it into Articulate, only the music remains.

I have even tried to use the Record Screen function in Storyline 2 and
record the video, but it has the same effect!

I can send you a compressed video clip via Dropbox if you want to have a
look?

Regards
Annelize
