Does anyone know why I wouldn't see a base layer image (jpg) on other layers? I haven't hidden base layer objects, and I haven't added any triggers or much of anything at this point. The image does show up in the slide preview, but I need to be able to see it in the design view too.
Sure. In the attached slide, the image on the base slide is a bulletin board. When you go to the layer, you should see that the bulletin board is not visible.
Looks like a bug. It is still there, but for some reason, when you select a new layer, it places the rectangle in the background of the image in front of the bulletin board image. Delete the rectangle from the base layer or move it to a spot where it hangs over the edge of the rectangle, and you'll notice it still displays the bulletin board.
As a workaround, I suggest creating a master slide for your background objects.
Thanks so much for figuring that out. Granted, I feel a bit sheepish for not seeing that myself! I got a bit lazy with creating master slides for this one.
I looked at some old projects, and noticed the same thing. I typically use master slides so it's never been an issue, but it still seems like a bug. I believe it only happens with images. When you select any layer beside the base layer, the images all move behind any shape or textbox on the slide.

Any chance you could share that specific slide?

Again, your help is great appreciated,

Hm, I never noticed that. I tried making a new file with my own resources and it does the same thing. Granted, I haven't updated Storyline.
