I know I can use Storyline to capture video of a software sequence and then convert that to an interactive simulation. But can I use an existing video captured by another piece of software (like Camtasia) and have Storyline convert that into a sim?
Like, say I captured a small software sim sequence using Camtasia or SnagIt, saved it as an mpg4 and imported it into Storyline. Can Storyline create an interactive simulation from that?
Storyline collects information for screen recordings using Windows Accessibility API and creates step-by-step slides by recording your mouse movements and clicks. If you've already recorded the simulation using another tool, Storyline won't produce step-by-step slides from the video file.
Peek 360 is a great screen recording tool, and is available for use on Windows or Mac environments. It won't create the step-by-step slides that a Storyline screen recording can do though, as Storyline is designed to recognize the mouse clicks and other interactions while you're recording.

I thought that might be the case. I was hoping, but the program wouldn't be able to detect mouse clicks off of a straight video.
