It's not currently possible to alter the speed of a screen recording, but you can export the screen recording as an MP4 and use a third-party tool to alter the speed of it. Doing that, however, you would lose any built-in interactivity of your original screen recording.
I tried to do a copy/paste into the screen to reduce typing time & errors. Unfortunately, that did not work either. I added that to my feature request.
If that doesn't work for you, it might be possible to place my "typewriter effect" javascript code over top of a video. I'll see if I can work up a demo in Storyline 2.

Speed editing would make a nice feature request.
Thanks!

This is a very old question - hoping there is now a way to speed up typing in SL2?
Tracy, there is a possible solution over here: https://community.articulate.com/discussions/articulate-storyline/can-you-speed-up-a-recorded-screencast
