Can't access Storyline - windows 8.1 update?

In case you were about to install the windows 8.1 update - don't! I can't access Storyline or Replay since installing it. Storyline seems to now think I was using a free trial (I wasn't - fully paid up licence holder!) but it won't accept my serial number so I can't use it. Which is a bit of a problem.
I have submitted an Articulate support case but thought I'd post on here and maybe save some of you the pain. I don't know for sure if the windows update is the problem but seems too much of a co-incidence.
Love Storyline - HATE WINDOWS 8. (Maybe I should get that on a t-shirt)

Articulate support has a KB article for this:

Repairing your Storyline and Replay installations should do the trick.

Windows 8 was fine incidentally - just the 8.1 update.
