Closed Captions Not Working During Zoom Region

Jun 07, 2018

I recently encountered an issue where I included a zoom region on my slide.  If the captions were not part of the "zoomed region" they would disappear.

Now I do want to also say that if I previewed the course in Storyline 360 the captions worked exactly the way I would want them to - however when I published to the review tool, they disappeared.

I haven't yet published to LMS - so I guess that's my next test because ultimately that is where I need it to work. But I wanted to ask if anyone else encountered this same issue. I feel like its counter-productive to have captions if they are not locked to the player.

Thanks in advance for your input.

Hi Marie!

I'm happy to help here. I created a sample that is similar to your setup--you can take a peek at it here.  As you can see, the captions are still visible, even during the zoom region.

Now, let's narrow down why this feature isn't working quite right for you. First, are you on the latest update of Storyline 360? To check, click the Help tab, then click About Storyline. You should see 3.16.15842.0 in the bottom-right corner.

Let me know if you're already on the latest update, and we'll go from there!

Hi Alyssa!

Yes I am on the most recent version that you referenced above.

As I mentioned in my other post, in Storyline Preview - it behaves in exactly the same way that your example course does, but when I posted it to the review tool, it stopped working that way.

Here is a link to the course, I can only keep the link up here temporarily and then I will need to pull it down.

Slide 4 is where I noticed it. Sorry, but we do have navigation locked down so you will need to watch the first few slides.

Thanks for looking into it.

Ah, thanks for letting me know, Marie! I saw the same problem in Internet Explorer and it appears this is happening because you're viewing the Flash output. I'm sorry that this is slowing you down!

Let me get this issue in front of our team to see how we can help.  I'll keep this discussion updated with any new information.
