Changing an object colour by changing the HTML code using JS

I'm working on some templates, and one of the goals is to allow someone else to easily change the colour of objects when they use the template. Unfortunately to achieve a spin down effect, one of the objects was duplicated several times, making a quick colour change more difficult.

Is there a way to use javascript or triggers to change an objects colours? (IE: create variables for the colours, and use java to apply the HTML colour value to the objects. This way the developer only has to edit the variable.)
