Click and key press trigger on same object

Nov 10, 2015

Hi all,

So I have a slide with multiple buttons, each of which has an associated layer. I have added two triggers to each button, one to show layer when clicked and one to show layer when enter key is pressed.  When I have this set up and I tab to the button, enter key press trigger is not working. I have tried reordering triggers with same result. Any ideas? Not at my desktop at the minute so can't share file.

It works when I get rid of clicking trigger but ultimately I need both.

thanks,

Laura

Hi Christie,

Yes I have tested in intended environment (Blackboard) and it is not working correctly. I have attached a sample slide (ignore the hover overs, I know they are off!).

When previewing this, you will see for some reason when you tab to first button and press enter it works but the X button inside will not close it but also when you tab to any of the other buttons they won't open even though they are set up the same way.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Hi, Laura -- If I am understanding your issue correctly, you may be finding that key-press triggers you've assigned to a slide don't work if you click the slide in your Flash output before invoking the key-press triggers. This issue was addressed in Update 7 for Articulate Storyline 2. See this article for details. Please be sure to let us know if that helps!

Hi Laura,

Also, to clarify key press triggers that were fixed as a part of Update 7 were on the base slide layer, and there is still some issues that our QA team is investigating in regards to the slide layers and key press triggers.

The enter and spacebar keys will activate buttons as a part of the accessibility features of Storyline. You may also find that the enter key will submit a text entry which is detailed a bit further here.
