I am sure this has been done before but I cannot find anything in the forums.
I want to play an audio track of someone talking and I want, simultaneously, to show a transcript where each word is highlighted as it is played. How do I achieve this?
There are a couple of ways to do this, but they're extremely tedious.
1) Create separate textboxes word-for-word. Create a custom state in one of the textboxes and highlight the text, then apply formatting to all the other textboxes. Then use triggers for each word. (This can take ages...) 2) Create several semitransparent shapes or hotspots and manipulate their size and position appropriately, then modify their timings. (Less tedious but you could potentially wind up with a myriad of extra elements/objects just for highlighting words).
Thanks Alex. I thought it would be something like that.
Rajesh, your response gives me some hope but I do not quite understand. Are you saying that at IDPF there are programs available related specifically to Articulate? And if so, I am not quite sure of the reference to epub and fixed layout. Could you clarify a little?

Hi Andrew.

Hope this helps,
