Creating Exit Animations for Layers.
Jan 07, 2014
Storyline gurus:
I have a question slide where I want to provide a calculator. I have it working nicely, for the appearance of the calculator. It slides in from stage right. I want it to similarly slide off stage right when the learner is done with it.
I was unable to find a "normal" way to do it, but did create a work around. The attached .story file shows the workaround, and if you don't look to closely, you'll wonder what I'm talking about since it appears to do exactly what I want. I did read a post from Mike Enders that was pretty interesting about changing state and a timeline trick, but alas my calculator is a SWF and SWFs do not appear to have states. (please let me know if this is an incorrect conclusion)
Please let me know if I'm missing something that can easily do this effect.

Hi Patrick,
Welcome to the community!
I haven't taken a look at your story, rather I'm responding to this part of your post: "...but alas my calculator is a SWF and SWFs do not appear to have states. (please let me know if this is an incorrect conclusion)..."
You ARE correct, but I came across another thread today where Michael Hinze explains to another community member how to "fake" a state for a SWF by pasting it into the normal state of a transparent shape.
If that doesn't answer your question or doesn't help, please shout out!
That is perfect. Very easy to do exactly what I want no fake layer.
Attached is an updated file with the new SWF embedded into transparent objects Normal State. Then using Mike Enders "trick" I can get the desired effect.

Hi Patrick and welcome to Heroes!
I'm glad Becky was able to point you to that thread, and very nice example! Thanks for sharing it here.
Hi Patrick,
That is a VERY cool example. 2 things:
One, the "fake state" tip that I set up the link for was provided by community member Michael Hinze. He always has great ideas.
Two: how does that calculator work? I saw a number of variables in the Variables window, but none are being used.
I'm showing my ignorance. I know you said it's a .swf, but that's all I know. I really like it and would like to know how to do it. TIA!
