So here is my problem. I've built a custom menu button and layer, and a play/pause button and layer in the slide master. My slides in my project have video and audio or pictures and audio.
I can show the menu or play/pause layer using the buttons on the master from any of the slides in the project. The first few times I use the buttons the base slide layer will pause. After a few times though, the slide audio and video will continue to play in the background while the menu or play/pause layer is showing.
I have my layer properties in the master set to pause the timeline of the base layer.
I need the menu or play/pause layer to pause the audio/video on the slide base layer consistently?
Here is our recommended method on how to set up a pause/play button, and without seeing what you set up it's hard to say why it's not behaving as you expect. You may want to look into elements such as the slide's revisiting properties and trigger order, as those are two common causes of otherwise "unexpected" behavior. If you'd like you can attach a sample .story file here for us to take a look at.
I have a similar problem and the recommended method doesn't work because there does not appear to be an option for pausing the audio when the Seekbar is paused on a layer. I need some suggestions for this situation:
1 - The course has a seekbar so users can pause to stop or rewind.
2- There is audio on the layers, but not on the base layer. The base layer is a question & they are told to click a button, which takes them to the layer that the audio plays on.
3 - When the user Pauses the seekbar while on a layer, the audio does not stop.
Are you slide properties for the layer also set up to allow seeking? Could you share a copy of that slide or portion of your .story file so that we can take a look?

Update: It seems to start happening when I visit the same menu item more than once.

4 - The course owner is complaining about it!
Thanks for any help you can offer!

Hi Karen,
Are you slide properties for the layer also set up to allow seeking? Could you share a copy of that slide or portion of your .story file so that we can take a look?
Thank, Ashley!
Actually, that was exactly the problem - the layer was not set to allow seeking, and once I set it, it worked fine!

Awesome Karen - thanks for the update. :-)
