I've created a freeform pick many question and added a custom Submit button. However, when I preview the screen, clicking the custom button will not trigger correct/incorrect feedback. The functionality works fine using the default submit button
I've edited and uploaded the file. I changed the trigger on the "Enviar" button to Submit Interaction. You had accidentally selected Submit results. Should be good to go now.
Just perfect, Becca!! Now, a question... If I should have used "Submit Interaction" instead of "Submit Results", then when should I use "Submit Results"?
Sorry to open an older thread here, but I've got a related question - the above works on a slide by slide basis... but what about from the question master? What seems to happen is that the trigger for the button becomes 'submit "unassigned" interaction', and since the button is on the master, I can't edit it on a specific slide to assign the relevant interaction.
Ideally, I wouldn't have to do that last step anyway, and I could make the trigger something like "submit interaction" when there's only one interaction on the slide, it would work...
Any ideas? Otherwise, it seems like we're copying and pasting the custom Submit button onto each question slide every time we create a new question.
Hi Sarah! Would you be able to share the .story file that you are working on so that we can understand what you are trying to accomplish. I think that would help! Thanks so much and have a great day
I have a free form drag and drop and I want to use a custom "Submit" button. However, In the Trigger Wizard in the Results section it shows "unassigned" with no options. Not sure what I'm missing.
the submit button would have to be on the slide to assign the interaction, cannot work from the master
I would also like to have a custom Submit button on master slide, and we're almost there because "Submit Interaction" is available but to "unassigned". Why doesn't it just validate "Default Slide Question" ? So close !..
Here we are three years later and I am having the same issue. My custom button does have the trigger "Submit Interaction" but it still will not show the feedback. Any thoughts to why? I attached my project. Go to slide 1.8 to see the first question.
Slide 1.8 is set to show the "next layer" when the user clicks your button, and that layer is set to hide the other slide layers. So that seems to be working as designed? If I'm missing something or misunderstanding something please let me know - but my thought is instead of placing the next button on your layer and showing that first, what about putting it on the incorrect/correct layers anyway?
If I remove your next button trigger the feedback shows as expected.

I am in the same boat, it should be relatively easy shouldn't it, to validate or just have it as a "Submit.Button" variable that can be set from master and picked up in any slide ?

Hi Jeremy,
Can you please post the .story file?
I think it will be easier to diagnose if people can see what you have done.
Thanks
Bruce
Thanks Bruce
.story file attached. I'm sure it's a basic error on my part.
Jeremy
Hi,
Looks like you only have the Trigger associated with the standard "Player" Submit button, not with your "Custom" button.
If you highlight it, then look at the Triggers panel, you will see this - you just need to add via the standard Trigger Menu.
Hope that helps.
Bruce
Many thanks Bruce
Don't know why I was being so dumb!
Jeremy
LOL - we have ALL been there in one form or another.
Until you get the "feel" for the way that Trigger Panel works, with the various sections it can be very disarming.
Take care.
The only "dumb" question is the one that you do not ask.
Bruce
I have the same problem, but I did add a trigger to my submit button. Can you help me?
Notice that the default submit button does work

Hi Sarah and welcome to Heroes!
Can you share your file here so that we can take a look at how you currently have it set up?
Thanks!

Figured it out. Selected submit and not submit interaction.
Great! Thanks for the update Marty

Sorry Pierre - but that's currently by design, so if you'd like to see a different behavior you're welcome to submit a feature request.

I appreciate that. That does work now. I can breathe now. You guys rock!
Thanks for the information i was looking for it.
:)
Glad you found just what you were looking for, Hassan!
Thanks Alyssa Gomez

Hi, Thesec. I can understand where you're coming from. Would you describe your idea to our development team here so that they get it from your perspective? Thanks!
