default file extension association
Oct 22, 2014
Hi,
We have Storyline 1 and Storyline 2 installed. However the .story file always opens up with Storyline 2 by default if you double click the story file in windows explorer. Most of our work needs to be done in Storyline 1 though for sharing with a client.
I want to be be able to change the association of a .story file to open in Storyline 1 by default rather than Storyline 2. I can't achieve this, if I try the "Open with" option and try and browse for exe for Storyline 1, it just doesn't take it, it keeps on being associated with Storyline 2.
We are using Windows 7.
If anybody can tell me how to achieve this, that would be great. Thanks.

Hi Rupert
don't double click the .story file,
right click on the .story file and select open with > SL 1 or SL2
Hi Wendy,
Thanks for your reply, but would I be right in saying you are doing that from a Mac?
In Windows 7 when I do the right click and "open with" I only get the options of SL2 or Internet Explorer. Clicking the browse button to actually try and force it to use the exe for Storyline 1 doesn't work, refused to pick it up.
Thanks.
Hi Rupert! I can work on my system in the same way that Wendy shared above. Are you able to launch your Storyline 1 and open the file that way?
To change the default, you would have to go into your control panel to do so.
