Displaying a Button After Learner Types in Text Box
Jun 23, 2015
Hi there-
I am hoping someone can offer a possible solution to an interaction I am trying to create. I want learners to type in a text box and then after they type in the text box, a submit button to appear (initial state is set to hidden). I know about the "control loses focus" function, but that does not really suit what I am trying to do here. I want the submit button to appear once they have typed anything into the text box. Unfortunately, "control loses focus" only functions if they click outside of the text box first.
I do not have my submit button initially visible on the slide so learners would not know to click on the slide for something to happen.
I have attached my slide for reference. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

You could set up up a trigger to state of the submit button "When the user presses the "A" key". You would have to do this for each letter of the alphabet. With the being able to copy/paste triggers it wouldn't take more than a few minutes. Not the most elegant solution but it would work.
That's an interesting idea Cary! I'll give that a try. So would the trigger look like this for each letter:
Yes, that would be it. After you have created it once. Just use the copy and past function in the triggers box and then you can change the letter without having to open up the trigger wizard.
Looks like Cary is assisting you here Nathan! Just let us know if you need anything further.
