Drag and Drop hide object

Jul 08, 2016

Hi everyone,

I'm trying a simple drag and drop where an object is dragged over a hotspot and if correct the object then it would disappear. I want to do this, as more than one object can be dragged on the same hotspot.

My problem is that I can't get the object to disappear - I've tried setting a trigger where by if object 1 is dropped on or dragged over (tried both options) hotspot 1, change state of object 1 to hidden.

Anyone else know of how I can get this?

Thanks

Gemma

Hi Gemma

you don't say if you are using the freeform D & D slide or customising a normal content slide. Here is a sample - if you drag the top rectangle to the right side of the slide it hides.

Hope this helps, if not, do you want to upload your story file - easier for someone to help if they can see your setup.

Hi Wendy,

Thank you so much for your response - it worked. I noticed that I was adding the trigger to the wrong object - doh!!

I now have another problem and that is that it won't show the Correct or Incorrect layer when the object is dropped on the Hotspot region.

I've added in my storyfile so that you can see.

Thanks again!

This is the never ending slide - I know have a new problem.

I would like it if the object is dropped in the incorrect hotspot for it to be dragged back to it's original position.

I have managed to do this - however, the Incorrect layer doesn't show up... See attached for Rectangle 1! For Rectangle 2 it does work - however it doesn't go back to it's original position..............

Hi Gemma,

Everything seems to be working for me - if I drag oval 1 to the wrong rectangle, it snaps back and I see the "sorry this is wrong" next to oval 1 and rectangle 1. They all seem to do that normally on my end.

I do know that some users have run into issues with adding in triggers and that causing issues with the built in drag and drop options such as the snapping back - so I'd look at letting the drag and drop options control the majority of the interaction if possible.

Thanks Gemma for sharing the updated file. This isn't set up as a drag and drop question type, but you've assigned drag/drop triggers to your slide. Since you're not using the question type you won't have the drag/drop options as I mentioned which are also described here. You could use the Convert to freeform button (you'll find it on the "Insert" tab) to use the standard drag and drop functionality.
