Editable Documents on Tablets
Jul 29, 2015
Hi Everyone
I am currently developing a course that prompts people to complete an action planner document at various points. This document is currently in Word format. My client, however, has requested that there is functionality available to complete the planner on a tablet, specifically an iPad.
Now, as we all know, Word docs and iPads don't play that nicely together. I have tired various formats (.DOC, .DOCX and .RTF) and it's a bit of a misery to behold.
I have now tried Google Docs. This IS working but it's a bit of a faff. (You need to create a view only document. The learner has to open it. They then have to select the Google Docs app. Create an account if they don't have one already. Then make a copy of the document so that they can edit a personal copy of it.)
Has anyone found a smoother work around for this?
Thanks in advance.
James

Hi James,
Have you looked at embedding it as a web object within Storyline? You'll see the description of how to do that here.
Hi Ashley. Yes, I tried that but it just causes the same issues ... only with the course, rather than external to it!
Thanks, though.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help - I can't think of similar issues I've run into embedding Google docs as web objects and working on them while viewing the course on my tablet, but if you'd like us to take a look we're happy too.
