Embedding Vimeo videos into Storyline 2 and customizing
Mar 24, 2016
Hi, I was recently at the eLearning Solutions conference in Orlando, FL. I visited with the folks in the Articulate booth and they were very helpful. I am embedding videos from Vimeo into Storyline 2. What I want to do is not have the Vimeo player bar show in the Storyline file. We are wanting our learners to watch the entire video before going to the next slide. When I visited the Articulate booth they showed me the under the embed section in Vimeo that I could not show the player bar. I have upgraded my account to Vimeo Plus and still do not have that option. I contacted Vimeo and their reply was: Sorry, it’s not currently possible to hide the player control bar on the Vimeo player. I am now wondering what I saw in the Articulate booth. Is there a way to control this? Attached is an example of the file I want to customize the video in.

There might be another way to do this, but I used instructions from here: http://www.cssplay.co.uk/menu/cssplay-vimeo-hide-control-bar.html
Your vimeo overlay logo might be missing, but take a look at the attached story file, it should at least get you close. I did not implement the code for the ipad.

Thanks Mike, I appreciate your help!
You're very welcome!
Sue, I just came across this. Sorry I wasn't around 7 months ago. In your vimeo embed options you will see an option to remove the play menu
This is on a pro account like you stated. See how I unchecked "show play bar"
Still helpful to share here Arthur for anyone else who may run across this discussion! Much appreciated. :)
These settings are not working for me. I'm still getting a Play button in the middle of the video, and the video will not play automatically, although it does load automatically.
Hi Cynthia,
I'm not sure if Arthur is still subscribed here, as the post is a bit older - but you could always use the "contact me" button on a ELH users' profile to reach out to them directly!
The play button in the HTML5 output is expected in Storyline - but I know some folks here in the community have worked around it using custom settings such as above.
Best of luck with your project!
