Error: Garbled Text
Aug 25, 2016
Hi everyone,
I've run into a couple of errors that I haven't seen before and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions. As you can see in the image below, I have a form that users need to complete, but all of the text is garbled. It almost looks as if all of the text boxes have shrunk and are forcing the characters to pile on top of each other.
Has anyone else run into a problem like this? The only unusual thing that I've done is that I've inserted the text boxes and and text entry fields on top of a video. I'm using SL2 and I've tried publishing to both Flash and HTML5 without success.
Any ideas?
Also, if you look at the Notes panel on the left side of the screen, you can see that the text get cut off about 3/4 of the way down the panel. This only occurs when I publish to Flash. Is anyone aware of an easy way to resolve this?

You may have your text boxes too small. Especially if these text boxes have variables, be sure your text boxes are big enough for whatever text may appear in them.
Hi Dave,
Hmmmm... That's really interesting. So I tried your suggestion and it worked. Sort of. The characters are no longer stacked on top of each other, but they are all out of order. For example, instead of saying "First Name" the textbox at the top of the screen says "Frsti aNme".
Hi Kristian!
Do you have a .story file we could take a look at?
Sure. Here you go...
Thanks for sharing the file and allowing me to take a look Kristian. I uploaded the course to SCORM Cloud to test and I am not seeing the issue you reported:
You can check out my published output here.
Do you experience an issue with this output?
@Leslie - Good call. Turns out it was my webserver. All fixed now.
Thanks.
Glad you were able to get that pinpointed Kristian. Thanks for popping in with an update.
