Has anyone else had this trouble? It will start to export, then half way through, it will exit back to the "chose publishing option" screen. It doesn't export any usable files. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Storyline 1.
A few things to try, check the file name length (including a sub folders) is less than 256 characters. Make sure you are not publishing to a network drive (shared folders in parallels often count as network drives).
Check you have no special characters in the file name.
Thanks for the reply Phil. The name length is less than 256 characters and does not contain any special characters. I am also publishing to a folder on my desktop. I've published several courses to the desktop on this machine in the past.
I know this is now old. But repairing Storyline 1 didn't work. I still am having troubles. I have maybe a 5% success rate when I go to export out a file. This is getting ridiculous.
What update of Storyline 1 are you using? Can you look to ensure you're using the latest update accessible here? I also want to confirm, you're using the publish to web option - vs. exporting, as I'm not sure what you would mean by that?
I'm using update 10. Sorry, using old work jargon. Yes, when I say export, I mean publish. I've been using the "publish to web" option. I've tried publishing with and without html 5 option checked as well as the mobile option.
Thanks Chris - always good to clarify just in case. :-)
I haven't had any issues with Update 10 - so I'd want to know if this issue just started occurring from you after update 10, or if you saw it before? Also, is it just this one file? Did you already look at importing it into a new project as described here? If you'd like to share the project here I can also take a look at publishing it.
It started happening on either update 8 or 9 initially. I was hoping 10 would fix it. My co-worker is able to export them just fine. For some reason it seems to just be isolated to me. So I'm not really sure what is going. Like I said, I've tried uninstalling and re-installing. I may try re-installing again, but we are in the middle of a big project and I don't want to do that just yet. I'm on Windows 7 Professional Service Pack 1 for reference.
If it's just your system, I would suspect the full repair may resolved it. Also, is it crashing or just not generating files? If Storyline's crashing you could look at gathering the repair logs as detailed here and share those with our Support team.
It's not crashing. It just doesn't generate usable files. It creates the Storyline folder and the temp folder. But it does not contain all the files and cannot launch successfully. I will try a full repair and see if that helps. Thanks!
Just to check - could you show me an image of what it does look like it creates? For example, here is how my published output folders look for one random Storyline course:
If you were to try and play this locally (which is not recommended) you'd want to utilize the story.html file but to play in the intended environment, you'll want to upload this entire folder to a web server or LMS.
I just submitted the case to the support team. Hopefully they can help me figure out why my machine is having such trouble. Thanks for all your help and patience Ashley!
I just wanted to follow up here as it looks like our team sent along some additional troubleshooting steps. Did you receive those? If not, I can look at having them send the email to you again.

Is there anything else I can try?

Hi Chris,
If it just stopped working, you'll want to go through all the repair steps here.

This is what it looks like when it fails the export.
Ok - definitely keep us posted after doing the repair.
I did that full repair, including deleting Adobe Flash Player, and still no luck.
Hi Chris,
Thanks for going through those steps - did you reach out to our Support team? They'll be able to take a better look at your system set up.

No problem Chris and I see your case (# 00657730 for my reference). I'll follow along as well so that I can keep the thread updated.
Hi Chris,
