FLV file won't import

Apr 25, 2013

Hi

I'm trying to insert an .flv file (a webinar from Adobe Connect) into Storyline, but I keep getting the message that [file.flv] isn't a supported video format. But from storyline's abilities I had assumed this should be fine.

Help?

thanks!

Hi Laura!

What format is the .FLV? Is it alpha channel, no alpha channel, etc.?

Also, how are you inserting the .FLV into Storyline? Are you inserting it as a Flash object, or video?

If you're still unable to get this to work, are you able to share the .FLV file here? I'd be happy to see if I can get it inserted into a course.

Thanks!

Hi Laura,

I had quite a bit of difficulty with this file as well. I wasn't able to insert it and I even had trouble playing it outside of Storyline.

I'm not sure if you're able to communicate with the person that originally created the FLV, but if you do, you might want to ask if they can convert it to an MP4 or some other format.

In the meantime, I did finally manage to record the video using Storyline's screen recorder. I'm not sure if this is an option for you, but I thought it might help with at least getting the video in the course. If you can get the file to play outside of Storyline, use a single video screen recording.

I hope this helps :)

Hi Laura,

This thread is pretty old now so you've probably already found a solution to this, but in case you haven't you could consider embedding your Connect recording.

In order to do this, you would need to move the recording into your Content folder and set the permissions to allow public viewing. Then you can use the following code to embed the recording:

 //<iframe src="*RECORDING_URL*" name="*RECORDING_NAME*" width="1000" height="800" scrolling="auto"></iframe>
