Font-size : pixel or point?
Oct 04, 2012
Hi,
I was wondering what format Storyline is using for font-size : pixel or point? I noticed that the text put in Storyline is much bigger than in Flash or even Word. For example, I can stack up to 8 lines of text to fill a vertical space of 112px, but in Storyline, that gap is filled with only 5 lines of text. (I've made sure that both are using the same font, font-size, line spacing, margin, etc.)
This is quite an important issue as the layout in Storyline won't look like what the graphic designer gave me via Illustrator/Flash/Photoshop.
Thanks
Julien

HI Julien,
Storyline's font sizes are in points.
Can you help me find an explanation on what's going on then?
Why is the font in Storyline are way bigger than my Illustrator model?
Is there any options or settings I should look for that may cause that kind of issue?
thank you
Just did a quick test.
I made a new PowerPoint project with an image and a text. The font of the text is 14pt.
I import the PowerPoint into Articulate Storyline.
The font-size in Storyline is now 10.5pt instead of 14pt.
Hi Julie,
Saw your post and also did a quick test. Typeface (Calibri) and color (green) came in fine after the import. But point size was changed from 18 to 13.5.
In a separate thread, Phil Mayor has explained that there is not a 1-1 conversion process. Can anyone tell us how this works - what is and is not preserved?
Thanks Rebecca for your quick test. Looking a bit more into points vs pixel, with the result of both test, it seems like a conversion is done from pixel to points : http://reeddesign.co.uk/test/points-pixels.html.
So the question is, does Storyline verify the type of font-size before doing the conversion?
the issue with font size still exists. Font size in illustrator and storyline looks very different for the same font properties.
Hey Dmitry - Looks like Ashley responded to a similar post here.
