Has anyone run into issues publishing on a laptop vs. desktop?
Feb 23, 2016
We recently had to update a module because some resource links were old. One of us on the team is responsible for creation and another publishing and getting it into the lms. When my partner published using her laptop, some of the spacing between text boxes were funny, lettering in some of the buttons, etc. I spent quite a bit of time trying to fix it only to discover that if I published it (desktop) using the same criteria (brower: display at current browser size, display at optimal size, etc.), everything was fine spacing-wise. We are using Storyline 1 and we published from our c:drives (not a network drive). The difference is laptop vs. desktop. Just curious and wanted to see if anyone else had run into this/had advice on why this might happen so we can avoid it in the future. For now, we're probably just going to change our process and I'll be publishing.

Hi Kim!
Articulate Storyline requires Microsoft Windows to be configured with 96 DPI (dots per inch). If Windows is using a different DPI setting, you may experience erratic behavior, such as:
* Elements of the application are misplaced or distorted.
* Objects are misplaced or distorted when previewed or published.
* Zoomed images don't work as expected.
* Font sizes are incorrect after using the translation features.
Here's how to switch to 96 DPI.
Hi Kim,
I only have a laptop to test from - but I've never heard of a difference between laptop and desktop. You may want to confirm that you're both using the same DPI setting, zoomed in at 100% while editing and viewing the slide, and that you've set the story size to the same size as well.
Thanks to you both! We'll check those settings and see what we come up with!
