Help! Want to apply conditions in Questions.
Jan 02, 2014
Hello everyone,
Before going ahead with the question. I would like to give you some details about the e-learning course currently I am working on and what is required from this course.
I amdeveloping a course on Time Management by using Articulate Storyline. The course itself is easy and self explanatory but I want my students or users to measure their existing Time Management skills. Once they get to know then they can enhance it accordingly.
I know it can be done by adding Quizzes in the course. But, I want quizzes to be measured by the options user selected for example in multiple choice questions:
If they ,
select (A) - they will be given 5 points
select (b) - They will be given 4 points
select (c) - they will be given 3 points.
So on so forth
I know this can be done in Articulate storyline but the trick is in the result slide. I want result slide should be in percentage where instead of Pass or Fail. They get feedbacks on different percentages. For example:
Result slide should be;
Good Job - 100 %
keep it up - 80 - 100%
Need to improve - 60 - 80%
You need to learn - 10 - 60%
I know that I can use Conditions in it but unfortunately, I am not that technical that's why I am looking for an expert who can help me with this.
Your help will be highly appreciated.

Hi Mohammed,
You could definitely set up multiple layers on the results slide that would display different information based on their score. Look at how the built in Success and Failure layers are set up - and you'll see that they have a score percentage associated with when they're shown. You'll want to add additional layers to the Results slide and set up the corresponding triggers based on these percentages.
I set up your Good job and You need to learn layer so that you could see what those would look like and modify the others as needed.
Good luck with your project!
Ashley,
Can you explain me how you change the values of the "results" variables as you have two sets ?
On the results slide I see what you are displaying as variable but I cannot understand where you change the values of these variables.
Thanks in advance.
Al.
Hi Al,
I'm not sure I understand your question. The value of the results is calculated by the Results slide based on how the quiz is answered, I didn't do anything to change the value. This example I set up for Mohammed allows you to view a different layer based on how the user scored, so I set up new triggers with conditions that are based on the users score.
For example here is a screen capture of how one of the triggers look when you set it up:
Al, the score-related variables that are displayed on a results slide are 'read-only'. You can display them, and use them in conditions, as shown in Ashley's example. However, there is no way to 'manually' assign a value (e.g. in a trigger) to any of these variables (other than by changing the point value for a quiz question).
Mohammad--David's recent post about the results slide gauge may actually help you a great deal, especially towards the end after he has built the graphic. He sets up variables to show different slide layers depending on the score, much like you mention in your explanation.
Hope this helps!
Hi All,
Kimberly, tx for pointing out David's recent post. I missed it ... planning to take a look.
Mohammed and Al, I created a tutorial (screenr) on Results Assessment Surveys, and in it I describe how to show different layers based on different score results. The insertion of the Results slides starts at about 1:50.
Thanks everyone for your wonderful replies and helping me in the projects. You help is highly appreciated.
Ashley,
You are the best . Thanks for helping me by adding triggers in the slide. I added layers and copy paste the same triggers with different values.
Kimberly,
Amazing! this is what I really want. Now, I can measure their skills by using Gauge graphics. :)
Rebecca,
Thanks for sharing this useful Training Material. It is really helpful. :)
Hi Mohammad,
Great community, eh?
Hi,
Here is the another situation where I need an expert's help.
There are two result slides in the course. Now I want to merge them in a way where I can get an average results of both them in a new slide. Any ideas how can I do that?
Hi Mohammad,
If you'd like to include a third results slide (which it looks like you have) you can set that to track the other two results slides - in the drop down section where you see "Selected Questions" you'll instead change it to "Selected Results Slide":
Further information is included in this tutorial.
Thanks a lot Ashley. You are my boss
Happy to help Mohammad.
