in my course i placed a picture on top of a tekstbox. I added a state 'hover' to the picture to make it disappear when the mouse hovers over and make it come back when the mouse leaves. In preview the picture doesn't disappear, but starts flashing realy fast.
I tried another way, i added a trigger to the picture; change state of picture to state hidden when mouse hooverd over picture this time the picture won't reappear...
If you're still having difficulty after reviewing Michael's file, are you able to share a copy of your .story file here with us? That'll be helpful for us to take a look at what you've set up and any triggers you included.

In the second option, the trigger, i selected the checkbox 'restore on mouse leave'
Hm, this works for me. See attached a quick example. For the Hover state, I simply set the transparency of the bitmap to 100%.

A! I deleted the picture in the hover-state. With the transparency to 100% it works fine!
