How can I download the contents to Articulate Mobile Player

Jan 29, 2018

Hello there,

I am trying to use an online course that I built on Articulate Mobile Player on iPad but I cannot.

Case 1

  1. I published and zipped the course by Articulate Storyline 2.
  2. I setup an online course on my company's LMS (Absorb LMS, using SSO to login), uploading the zipped file.
  3. I sent the course URL to the iPad.
  4. I clicked the URL on iPad and then a screen appeared that says something like "tap to launch the course on Articulate Mobile Player".
  5. I tapped the button and then Articulate Mobile Player launched.
  6. An error occurred on Articulate Mobile Player. I guess it is because LMS use SSO to login.

Case 2

  1. I published and zipped the course by Articulate Storyline 2.
  2. I set up an online course on SCORM Cloud, uploading the zipped file.
  3. I send the course URL to the iPad.
  4. I clicked the URL on iPad and then a screen appeared that says something like "will launch in different tab". But new tab never open and never launch the course.

Do you know any good solution?  Are there good substitution of SCORM Cloud??

Thank you very much.

Thank you Phil and Crystal.

As a result, I still have not got things done.

Here is my report, trying in 2 cases.

*Case with TInCan

  1. I published the course as TinCan by Storyline 2.
  2. Upload it onto SCORM Cloud.
  3. Launch the course on SCORM Cloud.
  4. I clicked a button to launch the course and then a screen appeared that says something like "tap to launch the course on Articulate Mobile Player".
  5. I tapped the button and then Articulate Mobile Player launched.
  6. An error occurred on Articulate Mobile Player. It says "Cannot Access Content. Articulate Mobile Player cannot access this content."

*Case with SCORM with unticked on Articulate Mobile Player.

  1. I published the course as TinCan by Storyline 2.
  2. Upload it onto SCORM Cloud.
  3. Launch the course on SCORM Cloud.
  4. Then message like "new window was launched." appeared but will not work anything. That is it.

I guess why Articulate Mobile Player cannot launch the course is it is need to log in by Articulate Mobile Player from the LMS.
I upload my contents onto my library on SCORM Cloud, logging in with my SCORM Cloud account.

But I do not know the LMS learner does not need to log in to download the contents.

Do you know any site?

Thank you very much.

I will add this information.

The following is the purpose why I like to use Articulate Mobile Player.

  • I am going to hold big event in my company.
  • in the event, I like to use iPad to deliver the information, including interactive animations, videos, etc.
  • I will borrow the iPad that contains the contents to the event participants.
  • I found it is good idea, making the contents as an e-learning contents with Storyline 2 (that I already have) and use Articulate Mobile Player so that the user can see the contents even off line.
  • but now I am confronting the difficulty, I am not sure how I can download the contents into iPad.
  • That means it does not need to keep track training record when user use Articulate Mobile Player.

Thank you very much for your great help!!

Hi Takeyoshi,

We've seen that error message before with SCORM Cloud and Tin Can API content, so I'd start by going through the troubleshooting steps here.

Also, the Tin can API content and the Articulate Mobile player can't work offline - as it needs an internet connection to share and send data back to the LMS.

If you're not needing to track a users access, you could publish for web, upload to a web server such as Amazon S3, and then deploy that content offline for the mobile player. Once you have uploaded it to your web server, you'll need to access that URL on the iPad to get it loaded into the Mobile player.

Hi Ashley,

Thank you for your advice. and sorry for being late to reply. I had been testing.

I have hesitated to use Amazon S3 since it needed to fill out a credit card number when registering the S3 (even I can use it for free for 1 year).

And I finally got a great site to deliver my course to Articulate Mobile Player on my iPad in order to see if my course work on iPad off line.
The site is Articulate Tempshare.

Thank you for providing very useful site!
