I'd say copy your .story file onto an USB stick and when the new computer arives copy it to your local drive again... Make sure you've got all your source files.
As Wendy stated, you will be able to edit the file as long as you move the .story file and all of the source files. If you save the published version, this is not editable.

Hello Eleanor,
You could also use a site like Dropbox, or even Google Drive to place the files until you get the new computer.
And as Jeff mentioned, make sure you have moved all the source files as well.
Would you then be able to continue editing it?
Hi Eleanor
as long as you have SL installed locally on your new computer. Then have the source SL .story file locally on your computer you can edit it.
