How do I create a custom report

Jan 19, 2024

I have used a template for a series of survey questions that rank 1 through 5 for strongly disagree to strongly agree. With the current thank you page, it says Review or Print which allows the user to see the answers they put, but doesn't tell them much more. I want to take the answers, and through an analysis of their answers, offer 3 custom report responses which I would generate. I would base the answers on each question's answers. So, if someone answered 1 or 2 to the first question, I could generate one paragraph for the response, 3 might be a different response, and 4 or 5 would be a third response. How would I go about doing that, and connecting it to the Review and Print buttons so people who take the course can have a custom report generated specific to their responses?

If you're using Pick One Survey questions, use variables to track which answers the user selected. Then, to show custom feedback, you'll need triggers with conditions based on those answers.

If you're using the standard Likert Survey questions, you can't track the answers within the course. (Unfortunately, the Likert radio buttons can't be referenced in triggers. So, for example, a trigger can't check whether a given Likert button is selected or not.)

This post might help. It has a file that demonstrates how to track responses to provide custom feedback: https://community.articulate.com/discussions/articulate-storyline/tip-track-responses-to-custom-questions-or-surveys

How you present the custom feedback to the user is up to you. I suggest you search the Forum, because there are posts about creating custom reports. (That's not my area of expertise.)
