How to build a quiz that includes weighted and unweighted answers read by an LMS?

Jan 02, 2019

Hello. The LMS we are using is Absorb.

I am building out a quiz in Articulate Storyline 360.

Initially, I had a survey slide that had a likert scale where new sales reps could rate their levels of comfort with various process aspects, followed by the quiz.

I thought this setup would work fine, then noticed that the LMS wasn't reading the Likert scale slide but could read the questions and answers that were weighted. I tried output in scorm 2004, 1.2, tin can, etc. I couldn't produce a report that would show me weighted and unweighted answers in the same report.

I recently rebuilt the quiz taking out the likert scale, and built a survey inside of Absorb. Now all the answers can be seen but in two different reports, as one includes the weighted answers and one is just for the survey tool.

Looking to build in such a way that I will be able to produce a report that can show weighted and unweighted in the same report, as trainers would be looking at these reports and will have a difficult time jumping around between two reports - that sounds complicated and tedious for them.

Please advise on the optimal way to build this to achieve the results I am hoping for!

Thank you. Happy New Years!

Hello Carla,

Based on your description here, it sounds like you may be referring to graded questions and survey questions.

I know that LMS systems handle survey questions differently, but check out this similar conversation where Jason shared some tips that may get you going in the right direction.

If you are referring to weighting, Storyline does not utilize this item as you can read in this documentation. If you were looking to score by choice, make sure you are using Multiple Choice, Word Bank, Freeform Pick One, and Freeform Hotspot questions.
