Does anyone know what settings to use to reset drag and drop quiz items/shapes to their original location if the submitted reaction is incorrect? I am using unlimited attempts so the "Try Again" layer appears and the "Continue" button prompts the hiding of the layer to reveal only the base layer again.
In sum, on an incorrect submitted response, I want the items to go back to their places instead of staying in place on the incorrect drag and drop location.
I'm on a tight deadline (this Friday, two days from now) and hope someone can help me. I've been able to use these instructions successfully before, but now correct items are not disappearing as they should.
I also had other issues with previously functioning Drag and Drop interactions after update 5 (as in this thread), and was able to get items to snap correctly by deleting and re-adding the drop targets.
However, deleting and re-adding drop items is not resulting in correctly dropped items disappearing.
This question has a lot of items to sort, and is overly complicated unless the learner can be left with only incorrectly sorted items on the second attempt.
It worked before, it's only since updating that it stopped working.
Hi, Allison -- As you mentioned you are on a tight deadline, and I was unable to determine the source of your issue when I viewed your file, I went ahead and created a Support ticket on your behalf, and shared the file you attached here. One of our Support Engineers will be in touch with you shortly. :)
I'm now having the same challenges with a drag and drop. If the user doesn't get the answers correct, I'd like the activity to reset itself to the initial state. I downloaded Rebecca's example she posted above and apart from the use of States, I'm pretty sure mine's identical....except mine's not working correctly. Is anyone able to help please? I'm going cross eyed with this one trying to work it out.
This tutorial I created some time back describes how to reset a D&D to initial state by limiting attempts. There's also a link to a sample .story file.
Ahhh yes! Thank you Rebecca, your tutorial is EXACLTY the solution I was looking for as I to was having a hard time figuring this out. Thank you greatly for making the video and the step by step instructions.
I'm not sure if Monique is still subscribed here, as the post is a bit older - but you could always use the "contact me" button on a ELH users' profile to reach out to them directly!
This discussion is also a bit older, so you may want to share a bit more about your set up and what issue you're running into. That way we can point you in the right direction!
High Rebecca! Came across this thread. Thank you for the advise. The issue I had, is that it won't publish the question. After opening your link I set my triggers and rest the initial state on the try again layer and the base layer. Appreciate you advice.
Sounds like Rebecca's post was able to help you out here. I appreciate you chiming in to share and it's always good to see these older threads continuing to help folks out. Just let us know if we can help you out with anything further.
Jimmy, I have the same issue. My workaround was to force that drag and drop question to always show in the question bank and locked it to the top of the draw. Then I used the "jump to slide" trigger they mentioned here to jump to the question draw instead of the slide itself. That way when the question draw is reset it always goes to the drag and drop question.
That won't be feasible in every situation but it works for one drag and drop question in a pinch.
I am having issues with a drag and drop quiz. I followed Rebecca's advice and was able to get the first drag and drop question to work, but for some reason the other questions won't offer the user to retry. I have it set for 2 attempts but only the first question offers the 2 attempts. The strange thing is, if I grab any of the questions and place it as the first question it'll work, but not in any other order. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Hi Kim
try adding this trigger to your try again layer
Hi there, that worked....thanks so much! Any idea why that trigger was needed in my file, while the example provided by Rebecca (above) didn't?
Hi Kim
sorry didn't have time to check out Rebecca's file just looked at yours.
Okay no worries. Again, thank you so much :-)
The example you have here no longer functions. Is it possible to repost. I am following everyone's ideas here and nothing is helping.
Hi Rebecca!
The Rebecca you are replying to doesn't make it back to the forums, but I didn't have any trouble accessing the file, so I'll attach for you here.
Thank you very much!
No problem.

Glad you found this helpful Glenn - I know Rebecca doesn't get back into the forums anymore, but I'm sure she'd appreciate it too.
Thank you team!

Thank you. I have fixed the issue.
Awesome - it's no worry on our part, but we like to be sure the users are aware.
This is GREAT!!! Even for SL2 it works too!! Thank you so much!
Glad this helped you out Ryan!
Hi Monique, I´m having the same problem and was wondering if you found a way around this problem?
