How to Gather User Information from a Course?

Sep 18, 2015

Howdy! I'm building a course in SL2 for a client who would like to collect five pieces of content from their learners: Name, email, role, industry and do you want more information. Is it possible/recommended to use question slides to gather this data? We were thinking this data could be fed back to Blackboard and the client could generate a report for follow up. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Greetings, Margaret!

What type of data are you looking to gather? Also, do you have access to a learning management system (LMS)?

Storyline will send learner activity to an LMS, but it's up to the LMS to determine how those details get displayed back to you.

Excited to hear back and explore further!

Hi Katie,

Thanks very much for your response. We are looking to gather each user's first and last name, school ID number and email address. We unfortunately do not have access to an LMS. We have thought about using a Google Form to gather this information, but did not want our student's having access to the link then sharing it with other's who have not completed the course.

Hi Margaret!

We recommend using an LMS since that is where you can track and report learner data which includes Learner's name, email address, and any other credentials like school ID.

I found a support article that might get you started on tracking this information without an LMS. 2 Easy Ways to Track Course Completion Without an LMS
