I want to record narration over a module. Is there a way to run the Storyline course in the background whilst I am recording? At the moment it won't let me skip through the slides once I have pressed record?
I know I covered this in training but I just can't remember if its possible!!
Replay doesn't have a video trimming/editing set up so if you do something wrong, so you'd either need to re-record that portion and string them together or re-record the whole thing. If you have access to other video editing software you could trim those elements out there. Storyline also has some trimming capabilities - but you can't trim a middle portion, just the beginning of the end. If you're going to be inserting this back into Storyline as an MP4 you could do some trimming there.
Is there a way to insert an audio track then have it play the whole way through even when someone clicks back and forth? So the audio is kind of separate?
I have got around this by having a layered slide with the audio on the base slide, but the sounds seems to stop once I have clicked through two layers, any idea why this might be?
Storyline doesn't have a playlist or background audio feature which would allow for the audio to appear on each and every slide continuously. You may want to review this thread where a few users discuss ways in which they'd set this up.

Hi Suzanne,
You could record it with another instance of Storyline or using a tool like Replay to capture what's happening on the screen and your narration.
Oh, and Replay is free with a Storyline license.
OK fab, I have Replay, and think I am getting the hang of it.
If we go wrong half way through, how do I cut a section out please?

Thanks Ashley, I am slowly getting there I think!

Hi Suzanne,
When you say "click back and forth" are you referring to leaving the slide? You may want to set it up so that the user can't advance with the next button until the audio completes - and then you could set it up to prevent the audio from playing again on a revisit.
Hi Ashley
No I want the audio to run in the background regardless of the screen someone is on? So in effect the audio is independent of the slides?
