Instructors checklist for hybrid learning

Apr 11, 2023

I’m writing to first see if this is possible and if so, how we will would approach creating this type of checklist.

We are training emergency response personnel and several of the courses require a didactic portion along with a hands on portion where an instructor evaluates the student performing skills. The instructor traditionally checks each skill performed in a checklist and since we have moved the didactic portion to our moodle based LMS, I would like to do the same with the checklist.

I will say that I know that what I would like to do using storyline  can be done using the checklist plug-in on moodle. The issue is the instructors are getting confused due to the moodle UI and the amount of steps they need to take to get to the checklist via the plugin.

What I would like to do is be able to create a checklist for each station the student has to complete. Ideally, the instructor would be the only one to see and mark up the checklist and would be able to see every student enrolled in the course. So when the student would come to that station, the instructor could select the individual student, check off the items as the student does(or does not) complete the task, be able to make comments, and the  have the SCORM report back that a student has completed that activity.

Again, this is to see if this would be possible and the work involved.

Thanks in advance for any input

WOW, having been an EMT in my past life I know exactly what you want to do. I'm just commenting because I don't think Storyline will fill all your needs. I know with the LMS we use it is possible to put a Storyline class in then a check list the instructor would check off. The learner first needs to complete a class before they are allowed to do a practical part. Once the practical is done the can take the next class.

So, I think you need to look more into your LMS.

Good luck, anything I can help with feel free to contact me.

Thanks Eric. It’s great that you have experience as an EMT (and by the looks of your profile pic, a fellow pilot) and know what it is we are trying to do.

The more I have looked into through the night, the more it looks like I am just going to have to have the instructors deal with the nuances of the LMS.

While it looks like it would be straightforward to build a graded checklist, the bigger issue lies in the instructor being able to complete a checklist for the each student at each station within the SCORM.

Thanks for your input and stay safe.
