iPad app going back to previous screens - they don't reset
Sep 21, 2015
I have a number of courses built with Storyline 2 and using bespoke buttons - we have been testing this in the iPad app and have found that everything plays fine on the first run through, but then if you want to go back and review screens - any with lightbox layers will not replay properly.
The screens do not reset, we can put in a trigger which gets the audio to replay, but the rest of the media does not replay - which means anything not on screen at the start does not appear. - this is a big problem as some screens have buttons which only appear after certain audio is played.
A couple of these screens we have changed the lightbox layers, to just normal layers in the slides, but on our introduction to elearning course, we show all the different types of questions - therefore each question needs it's own slide and can't just be placed on a layer.

Hi Lizzie!
How do you have the revisit property set?
You can customize the properties for any slide in your course, including how it advances, what happens when learners revisit it, and which player controls are visible. See this tutorial for details.
Yes we know you can set the properties for any slide and these are all set to 're-set to initial state', and this works fine on the desktop - through HTML - my point is that it is unreliable in the iPad app, and does not work on any slides that have buttons to lightboxes.
Do you have a .story file that we could take a look at?
Yes but I do not want to post it publicly.
Hi Lizzie! Yes, I apologize, you can share the file privately here.
I have received your case and will be taking a look. Thank you.
Reply sent Lizzie. You can just respond to me in your case and I will further assist you. Thanks again for sharing your file.
For any one else out there with the same problem.
We did establish that if you use lightbox layers in screens that you want set for users to be able to re-watch, and you want to view it in the AMP so it feeds back information to an LMS - it doesn't work. - It works on the first viewing but when you return to that screen it no longer plays.
Only solution is to set to 'saved state' when users revisit. - which isn't great if you have a process being shown in stages.
Thanks for popping in to update the community :)
no worries - hopefully there will be a fix to this in the not too distant future!?
Hi Lizzie,
We're unable to offer a time frame in regards to when we'll hear back from our QA team - but once we have information to share we'll post here for you and others so that you can stay updated. As long as you're subscribed to the thread you'll receive this information as an email notification.
