Issues with SRT files for Closed captions

I have a newly created presentation to which I want to add captions.  I have the .srt file saved locally in the same folder as my .story file.  With the audio file selected in the timeline, I select Import.

I navigate to my .srt file and select open.  Nothing happens.

However, the Storyline commands now change to Edit Captions.  So when I go to Edit Closed captions, it asks if I want to remove the existing captions.  Yet, there are no existing captions.

It looks like this:

What might I be doing wrong?  I would be grateful for any assistance.

Thank you

Johnna

  • I would like to add that I have also tried to add the caption file (.srt) through the Media Library tool and received the same results.

  • Hello Johnna,

    Happy to help!

Looks like there's something wrong with your .srt file if its not displaying properly. Would you be willing to share a copy of your project and .srt files here or in private by opening a support case so we can take a closer look at what's happening? We'll delete it when we're done testing!

Thank you, Joe. I appreciate your offer of assistance. I got it worked out. I don’t know if this was the solution or just happenstance. I had the SRT file opened on my desktop when I attempted to import it. I closed the file, and it imported correctly, as did the other SRT files. Go figure! I should have tried that before I posted my problem, but it didn’t occur to me to do that until afterward.

      Thanks again
