I'm trying to figure out how to make a button that will jump to the end of the slide (if people don't want to sit through the voice over and stepped out content), so everything can appear on the slide with a click. But I can't find a suitable trigger.
It seems so simple, but I'm stumped! Any suggestions?
I don't think there is a trigger that would allow you to jump to a particular point in a slide, but you could enable the seekbar and allow seeking which would let them skip to the end. You could even control it just for this specific slide using the method described about halfway through this article.
I have often thought it would be nice to have a timeline-based variable that would allow you to jump to a particular point on the timeline, such as you would find in Flash. It would be great if this feature could be added.
1). Place all objects on the slide so they are present at the start of the slide. Set the state of objects that will appear later to "hidden" when slide starts.
2). Create another object off the slide for each hidden object. Adjust the timeline of that object so that it appears when you want your slide-object to appear.
3). Create a trigger that sets your slide-object to "normal" at the start of your off-slide object's timeline. (This accomplishes the effect of having your objects appear gradually).
4). Create a button that allows users to "jump" to the end of the slide. Create triggers when that button is pressed that set all "hidden" object states to "normal." Stop any media that is playing.
It requires extra work, but it might achieve your goal. I'm interested in feedback (I just tried this out on a sample; haven't actually published anything using this method). Check out the file below and let me know what you think.

Has there been any movement on this issue since October? I am hoping for a similar effect. I have four options that play out on the slide but the user has the option of clicking one of the options before the timeline ends. I've figured out how to pause the "main slide" audio so it doesn't play over top of the new layer, but the visual elements of the main layer continue to play. If I could set it so when they click a button it automatically moves to the end of the main layer timeline, it would make my world full of sunshine, lollipops, rainbows and everything that's wonderful!

Thanks Ashley. I'll enable the seek bar and offer a suggestion to skip to the end for the impatient users.
Sounds good Michelle and thanks for the update!

Hi David,
I'd encourage you to submit a feature request here.
I created a possible workaround.
1). Place all objects on the slide so they are present at the start of the slide. Set the state of objects that will appear later to "hidden" when slide starts.
2). Create another object off the slide for each hidden object. Adjust the timeline of that object so that it appears when you want your slide-object to appear.

Thanks David for sharing your suggestion here too!

Hi Jay,
This is not yet a feature of Storyline, but as I shared with David it's a great idea to submit as a feature.
I have also submitted a feature request. It really surprises me that this isn't alreay a feature, as I imagine it is a very common need.
6 years and this still isn't a feature? Just like the "jump to a cue point" feature we've been asking for, for years. :(
