Lightbox Trigger on Course Resume

Hey guys, I have a course where when you click on the Exit button a lightbox slide comes up asking if you really want to exit the course. When a user clicks "yes" and exits the course, and then comes back and resumes the course, the course starts with the lightbox slide. I do not want the course to resume with the lightbox slide still up, but I cannot seem to figure out how to stop it from staying up when a user resumes the course. This is in Storyline 2. Does anyone have any ideas on how to prevent the lightbox slide from appearing when the course resumes?

Hi Kenneth,
Does the "yes" click trigger the "exit course" behavior? Have you looked at also adding in the "Close lightbox" trigger? Perhaps to ensure both are executed you could adjust a variable on that slide - call it Resume from false to true, and then set a trigger to close the lightbox based on the value of the variable? You'd have to play around with the "when" element of this trigger as it's execution will be dependent on the slide properties and the timeline resuming/restarting.
If you'd like to share your .story file here with the community others may be able to weigh in with ideas!
i'm also having this problem. i have a lightbox exit confirmation box. when i go back and resume to the page, the lighbox is left up while everything is playing in the background.
If I put a close lightbox trigger on the Yes confirmation before the trigger to exit the course, it won't work. The lightbox will close before it sees the exit course trigger.
Thoughts?
Hi there Calvin,
I'm wondering if adding a true/false variable that adjusts when the lightbox opens would do the trick, but it's hard to say without seeing your set-up. Would you mind sharing a sample of your file here?
I created a test story file. It's in Storyline 2 though. So what happens is the lightbox remains up when you do a resume where you left off. That's in Flash. HTML5 doesn't have that behavior.
If only you can use multiple triggers on custom links in the player it can solve this problem.
the only solution i can think of which is not ideal, is to add a close lightbox trigger at the start of each slide.

Hi there Calvin,
Thanks so much for including the sample file. Like you mentioned, I saw that the course resumed on the lightbox slide in Flash. I'll report this to my team, and get it logged as a possible software bug.
One way to get around this bug is to include a "Close lightbox when timeline starts" trigger on the slide master layout. Just remember to use a different layout for the lightbox slide itself. Give it a test here!
Hi alyssa, that's an excellent solution. I didn't think of using slide master. yup that's a workaround to make it easier to add a trigger on each slide.
thanks for reporting it as well. it's odd that html5 version doesn't have this issue.
I'm glad that will work for you, Calvin! I'll update this thread as soon as I get more information on the bug. ☺️
