Making a "next" button only appear in review mode
Aug 07, 2014
I am working on a course in Articulate Storyline, in which students have 3 opportunities to pass the End of Module quizzes. Between attempts, students should be able to go back and review the content within the module. As it currently functions, when the Storyline file reaches the last page, the SCORM redirects automatically to the quiz. The problem that I am encountering now is that if they go back to review the module after the quiz (to review after a failed attempt), because it has already called the course completed page once, it automatically redirects when they go back into the module to review. We put in a fix to stop that redirect from occurring after it happens the first time. Now, however, once they go back to review, it doesn't redirect them at the end of the module, and the quiz page in the Table of Contents is not hyperlinked, so if they go back to review after failing the quiz, they get stuck and can't move on.
Ideally, a fix for this would be a 'next' button that shows up ONLY when the SCORM is in "Review" mode. Is such a thing possible within Storyline? I haven't been able to locate anyone with a similar problem, or a way to implement this so far. Any help is appreciated!

Good Morning Katelyn, and welcome to Heroes!
Within this Forum Thread, our community comes together to offer a solution to eliminating audio during quiz review, and I believe you should be able to use similar logic to create a conditional "Next" button.
Good luck with your project!
This doesn't really apply to our situation, because the quizzes are not part of the SCORM module. What we are trying to do is put a button in a slide that is only visible when the player's CMI mode is set to "review". In "normal" mode, the LMS is set up to automatically redirect once the module's status is set to "completed". I do not see any documentation on how to access the CMI mode from within Storyline.
Thanks,
Kate
Thanks for clarifying, Katelyn.
You are correct in stating that there are no direct hooks into cmi.mode from within Storyline. If it's possible to access cmi.mode via JavaScript, one of the JavaScript wizards in the community might be able to offer a way.
