Marker's label automatically showing without hovering or clicking on them

Jan 12, 2021

I have markers on my correct/incorrect slide layers of a multiple choice question to allow for detailed explanations of each answer.  The issue is that the first icon's information comes up automatically when either layer is triggered.  This ends up looking confusing.  The marker's information shouldn't be shown unless it is hovered or clicked on.  I don't understand why it is automatically showing up - I haven't had this issue with markers on previous slides but none of them were used in the way these are.  Is there a way for me to fix this?

HI Erin,

I suspect the problem has to do with the way Markers work with layers. When a layer is selected with a marker on the layer, the first or top marker on the layer receives focus. I added a marker off stage that should receive focus first, and hopefully resolve your issue.

This was a great idea, but oddly it works for some slides and not others, even though they are all basically duplicate slides. I'm not sure what the difference is between the ones working and the ones that aren't. Some all I had to do was copy and paste the one I moved to the side and it worked perfectly.  Others are being more stubborn.  I've moved the offending one over and even created entirely new markers, but then the new ones are still popping up.  Nothing I seem to do changes the situation.

Hi Erin,

Thank you for popping in with an update. Following Dave's advice, I'm no longer seeing an issue.

With your permission, I'd like to take a look at your updated project file to investigate what's happening. You can share it publicly here, or send it to me privately by uploading it here. I'll delete it when I'm done troubleshooting.
