Hi, Is there a way to add an image into the markers field - e.g. I'd like to recreate an Enagage interaction directly in Storyline using a background image and markers.
I've tried to copy and paste into the Markers pop up box but it doesnt work.
I am adding graphics to labels. They show up when I first add them. However, when I go back to that slide later some of the graphics are missing! Some disappear when I publish my Storyline. Does anyone know how to keep the graphics in the labels? I must be doing something wrong!
I have experienced what you describe when I used the Change Picture option in the Picture Tools > Format tab. If I want to swap out a picture in a marker, I instead use Marker Tools > Format > Media > Delete Media, and then I import a new picture using Marker Tools > Format > Media > Picture from file.
Steve, thank you! That's exactly what I was doing...using the change picture option. Now that I look back, the ones where I didn't change pictures don't disappear! You saved me a lot of work!!
I have another problem! The Next and Previous buttons are not working correctly after I've published and uploaded my course. For example, the previous button will go to the last slide that I visited (when navigating with the menu)...not the previous slide in the course order. I cannot use the menu (TOC) at all for that reason. Hopet his is clear! It's early!!
Of course I visited this page after all my images disappeared in my markers as well. I was also using the change picture option under the format tab when in the marker. If the change picture button doesn't work then it shouldn't be an option because now I have to redo all of yesterday's work. Hope the next version doesn't have this problem, if they find out it's not going to work though for the next version then I hope they take it out and put instructions on how to do it correctly on the forum.
Thanks for all the tips above. I am having problems with inserting picture files into labels on markers. I have followed the procedure of adding media>add a picture from file. I choose my file, click 'Open' -but then nothing happens. Having successfully filled 10 marker labels with videos yesterday, it seems a little strange that JPEGS don't want to upload. Is this a fault or am I doing something silly?
First, I would make sure that the images you're trying to import, as well as your project files, are all local.
Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate).
Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names (this includes spaces and underscores).
Additional information regarding "Naming Files, Paths, and Namespaces" in Windows operating systems can be found in the following Microsoft article.
If you're working locally and you've checked the file names, are you able to attach one of the images here? You can attach a file by using the paperclip icon in your response.
This thread is a bit older, but when I add an image into a marker I'm able to resize and move around by dragging it. It can only be moved around the label section and resized to fit the largest size of the marker - so if you need it to be larger than that, you'll need to resize the marker label size. If you're continuing to have difficulty can you confirm that you're working on files as described here.
Thanks so much for the quick reply. Sorry for the post in an older thread, I will start a new discussion next time. Didn't even realize it was 2 years old - whoops!
So, I tried formatting the image in the marker, it will move around the label itself, but I am unable to adjust the size (the dimensions and other formatting options are greyed out in the top tool bar). The file I am attempting to manipulate is an image I snipped from another program then saved to my desktop. Could this be causing the issue?
For now, I worked around it by using a layer / trigger instead, but I would like to know for future reference / general knowledge.
Without seeing the .story file with the image it's hard to say - but if it's already at the edge of the marker, you'd have to resize the marker label to then be able to resize the image. If you want to share the .story file here I'm also happy to take a look.

Hi Louise you need to add media via the marker menu, this is a bit confusing and does not match the rest of the insert porcesses
Perfect - found it now - Thanks!

The previous button is historical in that it visits the last slide viewed unless you add a trigger to tell it to do otherwise

Hello. I have a question on adding images to marker labels. I have added an image using the format > media > picture from file > added local image.
The image appears in my label, but I cannot format it. I cannot move it up in the label, enlarge it, or make any other changes to it.
Can someone please advise? The image is a .PNG file if that makes a difference.
Thank you!
Hi Eileen,
