Media Library and subtitles makes the program freeze

Jun 19, 2023

Hiya,

Editing Captions through the Media Library window/feature is Exceedingly sluggish and brings the program to a halt every single time you want to right click something or open the Captions window. Sometimes as long as 25-30 seconds freeze.

Editing them through the individual slides works perfectly fine.

Something might be coded very sub-optimally. I don't think it's a 32bit/1 CPU core limitation. I've tested it on 3 different systems (AMD laptop, intel laptop and stationary AMD PC) and it's the same on every PC.

Hello Asbjorn,

Sorry to hear that you ran into this issue.

Can I ask if all 3 of the computers that you tested the behavior on are managed by your organization? If so, please try doing a repair of your Storyline 360 installation on one of the machines by following the instructions listed in this article to see if this helps improve the performance. Note that you might need assistance from your IT staff to perform some of the steps.

If the issue persists, please open a case with our support team here so we can take a closer look at what's causing the media library to slow down the application on all three of the machines.

It happens on both my corporate issued PC (windows 10 laptop) but also my personal pc (windows 11 stationary).

I've attached a movie where you can see there is close to no lag in the English file with no subtitles but insane amount of lag, to the point where the program sometimes freezes, in the translated/subtitled version.

The Storyline files are otherwise identical.
