Microsoft Edge freezing on slide using an instruction layer

Dec 12, 2017

I am using Articulate Storyline 2 to create a Hazardous Chemicals Awareness course and have created a page that shows an Instruction layer when first visiting the page. The user closes this layer and then clicks on the base layer to view further layers that explain different topics.

It works fine in Chrome and Internet Explorer but in Edge, if I display the Instruction layer and then close that layer, it won't allow me to click on the other layer buttons on the base layer.

I have confirmed that it is an issue with the Instructions layer by turning it off from appearing immediately upon viewing the page. If you look at the attachment, click on the Definition shape first, you'll see that the Definition layer successfully appears. Then click on the Help shape and you'll see the Instruction layer. Click on Start to make this layer disappear and then try and click on Definition again (or Classification) and you'll see that it doesn't work.

I've included the Storyline file and the SCORM package if anyone would like to have a look.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for including all of those details, Mark.

Edge is now restricting Flash content, which causes Articulate courses to default to HTML5 output. However, Storyline 2 HTML5 output isn’t supported in Edge. As a result, we can no longer officially support Edge with Storyline 2.

This article explains why we're ending support and what it means for your courses.
