More complex if/then variables
Feb 09, 2015
Hi,
I am fairly new to Storyline and so far I have created a few traditional storyline trainings with quizzes and now I have project that I'm wondering if Storyline is well suited for. In this new training, the user needs to select a number of countries out of a list of about 60 on the first slide (using checkboxes), and on the next slide it would display a row of content (some columns with text, others with selection dropdowns) for each country that was selected on the first slide. I'm trying to figure out where to start with a more complex set of variables such as this (how to display that content on the second slide). Has anyone seen an example of Storyline being used to achieve something like this? Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks!

This can easily be done by using a variable that is set as you select a country. On the next slide, the value of the variable is used to display a layer with country-specific info). The same technique could be used to branch to a separate Scene (one for each country). See attached a quick example.
Wow, thanks for the quick response Michael! That's exactly what I was looking for. Cheers!
Since you seem to be interested in geography-related quizzes, here is an example: http://dev.keypointlearn.com/xcl73_SL2/FunWithFlags/V2x/story.html and here is a brief description of the project: http://wp.me/p2BoUf-ce
