In a screen recording you can't change where the mouse enters from - but you could delete the mouse cursor that is included and add your own mouse cursor in (Insert tab-> Mouse) and then control the enter behavior through that version.
Thanks for sharing the file here. I discussed this with a few of my other colleagues to confirm, and it seems that the "Enter from" behavior is greyed out when you have multiple consecutive slides with mouse cursors, as the end point of the first will be the beginning point of the next.
If you'd like to see additional control and customization added to the mouse cursor options, please know we always welcome and encourage feature requests.
As a workaround, you could insert a blank slide inbetween each of your slides to 'break' the behaviour of starting the mouse from the end point of the previous slide?
You will also have to amend your triggers so that that next button bypasses each of the blank slides so the learner doesn't see them
Is the "Enter from" button greyed out? That will happen when you have consecutive slides with mouse cursors, as the end point of the first cursor will be the beginning point of the next cursor.
Did you try the workaround Anthony mentioned above?
I need to control where my mouse movement begins and ends. The enter from option doesn't give me much control. How do I do this without having to record a new screen? Looks like people have been asking about this for 7 years and there's not a fix or easier way to do this? The workaround does work to allow the Enter From option to appear, at least. In the attached, I want to start the mouse at Links and move it to Transactions.
Thank you for sharing the screenshot! It sounds like you have a need for more control than what we offer under Mouse Tools. I understand how this would be a beneficial addition to Storyline 360. I'll go ahead and share this request with my team. I'll report back to this discussion when I have an update to share.
Hi there, I'm working with Storyline 360 and have the 'grayed' out Enter From options for my mouse cursor. Reading above, i see that it needs some sort of break between slides... i would suggest that there just be an option on the mouse tool, to "stop continuation" or "break cursor" or something to that effect - seems like a simple thing to incorporate....??
but also, I'm wondering, why does the mouse tool show on the slide, before it appears on the timeline? I would expect it to not show on the slide until it appears on the timeline, and i have no options for the 'enter from' because i have a cursor on the previous slide....
Thanks for reaching out and sharing what you are experiencing.
I want to take a look at your project file to investigate what's happening with your permission. Which slide are you referring to with the mouse cursor appearing before it's on the timeline? You can share it publicly here or send it to me privately by uploading it here. I'll delete it when I'm done troubleshooting.
Why are you unable to edit the mouse action any more than you were 7-10 years ago. There should be a drawable and/or customizable path for the mouse, it should have the ability to appear on screen midway through a slide and then disappear once you decide the animation should be finished, and you should be able to have mouse animations on consecutive slides! This is a nice tool to indicate to the user that interaction exists on the slide but it could be so so so much better with just a tiny bit of work by the dev team (as is the case with a LOT of the features on this software)

Hi Ashley,
Yeah tried this and even when I delete the mouse and insert a new one the 'enter form' is still greyed out. I have attached the .story file

Hi Ashley!
Great, thanks for the response - I'll submit a feature request

Hi everyone
Did you find a solution for this problem? Im facing the same problem with Storyline 360.
Thanks and best regards
David

Hi Alyssa
Thank you for your response. Yes, the "Enter from" Button is greyed out. But the point is, that on the Slide before there is no cursor...
Ah, that changes things! Can you share your project file with me? If you'd like to keep it private, use this form instead.

Absolutely! I'll provide file and details via private upload - thank you so much!
Thanks, Lindsay. I've received your file and will take a look and reply to your privately.
