Moving Characters Forward
Mar 11, 2019
Hello -
We're working on a Storyline orientation where our narrating characters move forward from the group as they introduce themselves. We've tried using the motion path animation to create the illusion of them stepping forward, however, it just looks like they're sinking into the page since they don't become larger. Any suggestions for creating this type of animation? I've attached a version of what we currently have (I've cut out the rest of the audio for this portion, so please ignore the terrible transition through layers!). Thank you!

How's this? Instead of using the motion path, I duplicated the character with initial state of hidden. The character "steps" forward by changing state to normal and hiding the original character to give the illusion of moving.
Try this approach I did on screen 2 of your file.
Instead of duplicating the character and using multiple triggers for each speaker, I like this method better. I created a Talking state for each character where I placed the speaker in the final position. At each timeline cue, I changed the state of the Speaker to Talking to give the illusion of movement.
You have to create half of the amount of triggers and you don't have to copy each character. Keep it simple.
Thank you both! These are great options and just what we're looking for!
