Navigate between SCO with Storyline and MOS (next SCO / previous SCO ...)

Feb 02, 2017

Hi,

My modules are published in SCORM 2004 - 3rd edition, for integration in the MOS platform, in a course.

Does anyone know how to use the "Next Sco" / "Previous SCO" and "Play SCOxx" commands in Storyline, allowing us to navigate between the different modules of my course?

Thanks in advance !

Hello Lucie!  It sounds like you have multiple Storyline courses with assessments in your MOS platform, and you'd like to be able to link them together using a trigger action, like clicking Next, for example.

I don't have specific experience with MOS - when you host a course on MOS, do you share a URL/link with learners to access that course?  I'm assuming there is a login process to begin a course.  Would using a trigger at the end of one SCO to jump to the URL to access the next SCO be feasible?  Storyline will send completion data to an LMS once the user lands on the results slide or reaches the minimum number of slides viewed, so if there is no other need to close out the first SCO, perhaps this is a workaround.

I don't see any other solutions that folks have found in the community to address moving between SCOs in an LMS environment; maybe we'll get some traction here!

Hello Crystal,

Thank you for your reply.

Sorry, but my question was not clear, when I wrote "SCO" I want to talk about SCORM modules.

I need to be able to navigate from a SCORM module (created with Storyline) to another (created with Storyline too) within a MOS platform.

For example, when the learner arrives on the last slide of module 1, a Storyline button appears, and this one allows him to open module 2 directly, without having to close module 1 and go back through the LMS to launch the module 2.

I hope I'm clearer ...

That makes sense, Lucie.  If you are able to use a "jump to URL" trigger to jump to the next SCORM module in your platform, that would be the only supported way to navigate from one Storyline course to the next.  If that's possible, you'll want to be sure to give that option to your learners only after they've landed on the results slide so the LMS can receive information about the learner's completion and success.
