I have just published my first Storyline course. All slides have triggers to jump to next slide (yes its a linear course). But the slides at the end of one scene are not jumping to the first slide of the next scene when the next button is clicked. Do I have to manually set the triggers to jump to the next scene? Thanks for any suggestions.
As standard, yes you will need to set up those triggers manually. There should already be an automatically created 'jump to next slide trigger' on your slide just double click this and select exactly which slide you want it to jump to.
Just to clarify- normally within a scene the 'jump to next slide' will automatically jump to the next slide in numerical order, it's only when your slide is at the end of a scene that you need to manually tell SL which slide to jump to next.
I know that I need to manually edit the trigger to jump to the next slide when the slide is the last one of a scene.
But... the last slide of my scene is a question. So, there is no Next button, there is a Submit button. When I click Submit, the appropriate feedback layer appears. On the feedback layers, I edited the Continue buttons so the learner jump to the next slide which is in the next scene.
My problem is that when the learner completes the question and goes to the next scene, if he wants to display the question once again, he presses the Previousbutton and comes back to the question. But at this point, there is no more Submit button because the question has already been completed. There is a Next button. This Next button doesn't work properly and I can't find where to edit it. Can you help me?
I came on the site looking for the answer to this exact question! Thanks Maureen for asking and thank you to all that have answered. I just went to the last slide in each scene and changed "jump to next slide" to "jump to 2.1, or 3.1, etc.). But when I do that it lines up the scenes on top of each other on the left (instead of next to each other going across). How can I get them back to being across while still jumping to the next scene slide?

I understand Sheri's question because I'm having the same issue. (I won't say "problem" because it may just be the way SL2 works.) I have four scenes so far. The last slide in each scene is triggered to jump to the next scene. So now in Story View, instead of my four scenes displaying in four columns that I can easily see, I have one long (long, long) column that, when all scenes are expanded, force me to scroll and scroll and scroll to see my scenes (see attached). Is that just a Storyline thing?
Thanks for the speedy reply, Leslie. It's absolutely something I can work around, but I thought Sheri's question was interesting enough for me to confirm my experience also. I always figure if one person has a question, there's at least one other person somewhere in the world (or at least in this community!) with the same question. :-)
Hi, if slides are listed in numerical order and SL automatically added the “jump to next slide “ trigger do I have to edit the next to slide number in the trigger? In other words, will SL know what the next slide is even if I don’t tell it? I find myself spending extra time cross checking this!
Within a scene, yes. When you want to jump from one scene to another, no.
Simply, when you look at the slides panel on the left in slides view, is there a slide following the one you're looking at? Then 'jump to next slide' will move to that one. If there isn't (because it's in a different scene), there isn't a 'next' slide to jump to, so you have to define it.

Hope this helps
So even if I want it to jump to the next slide, I need to manually edit the trigger? This doesn't seem logically, but easy enough to fix. Thanks
Hi Maureen! Looks like Harri was able to take care of you here, even though not the response that you hoped for.
Thanks Harri!

Hi All,
I answered my question. Thanks!
Hi Michael and welcome to the Heroes community!
I'm glad you were able to figure it out but if you need anything else please feel free to let us know!

Set the question slide settings to "reset to initial" state.
Click the gear icon next to the layer name in the layers panel.
Thanks Bill for your answer!
It works for me

Hi Sheri,
That doesn't seem right, at least to me. Can you upload your story so the community can take a look?

Hi Kendra!
Yes, that would be expected behavior. Enhanced storyboarding-like functionality would be a nice feature request though.

Always ok to ask questions and reach out here Kendra - and let us know if you need anything else.
