Hi there, Jane. Publishing to video will take longer than other formats to ensure smooth playback, but your experience sounds potentially excessive. You should also be able to retain your audio.
Could you share your original .story file with me for testing?
I tried publishing your file to Video, and I also found that it took excessively long to publish. I'd like to get your file over to our Support Engineers for insight on why this problem is happening. Keep an eye out for an email from our team at Support@Articulate.com!
I am experiencing a similar issue-- in the preview and SCORM versions I have audio, but when I publish to video (mp4), the audio goes away. Can you advise?

Hi Caitlin
I've published your file to video and I can hear the audio. I can also hear audio in both the files you uploaded above.
Where are you viewing the mp4 file that is doesn't have audio? Attached is the file I just published
