No Longer Able to Embed Articulate Storyline into Google Sites

Nov 29, 2023

Hi everyone.

We use Google Sites to create some self-guided learning resources. We would have instances of Articulate Storyline stories embedded throughout the site. We noticed those URLs no longer work. Regardless of whether I use an iFrame or not.

Just to clarify, we are running the story from our server, I'm just looking to embed it into Google Sites

Does anyone have any experience with this? I wonder if there's a setting I need to address before publishing it to web.

Hello Julio,

Happy to help!

We haven't made any major changes to how Storyline 360 courses are published for web distribution, so if you noticed that your previously accessible published content are no longer working when hosted on your server, you'll want to check with a site admin first to see if this is something that can be fixed on their end.

The setting to allow embedding would be different across various web servers like Apache and NGINX, so its best to confirm with the administrator of the server if their environment is currently allowing content to be embedded to external sites. Once you've confirmed that the web server allows embedded, try recreating the embed links in your Google Site to see if this helps!

Hi Diane!

Sorry to hear you've hit this snag! Happy to jump in here!

While Review 360 links are not searchable, they are still publicly accessible by anyone who has access to the Review 360 links, making them not ideal for embedding in websites that are used in a production environment. The best way to embed content is to host the published courses yourself using a personal web server or a website hosting service, and then embed these published courses using iframes.

If you do not have dedicated web space to use, I would suggest services such as Amazon S3 to host your Storyline courses that have been published for Web distribution.

Please let me know if you have any more questions!
