Open Slide in New Window
Dec 10, 2012
Does anyone know of a way to open a slide within a course in a new window? I've created a slide that is a "Certificate of Completion," that is pulling in the learners first and last name from text entry boxes. I'm currently lightboxing to it on the last slide of my course, but I want learners to be able to save it so that they can then email it.
With the slide as a lightbox, I get the original slide as a background, which looks a bit sloppy, and the only way they'll be able to save it is if they right-click > Print > Save as PDF. I'm just concerned that some people may not have pdf capabilities.
I was thinking maybe I could do a trigger to Jump to URL/File and somehow reference that slide within the published output. Would anyone know how to do this?
Any thoughts or suggestions?
Thanks,
Christina

Hi Christina,
I haven't worked much with certificates, but perhaps using the Web Object feature would work for you? Here's a tutorial on using a web object for a certificate. When you go to insert the web object, you could select the option for "Open in a new browser window" and you could adjust the window size with this feature, as well.
Hopefully this will help with what you're trying to accomplish. If not, maybe it will get the ball rolling
Good luck with the project! I'm curious to see what method you use for this.

I want to be able to do something similiar - I want either a slide or lightbox to open in a new window - is there a way to do this - the client does not have PDF capabilities so I need something other than PDF as a solution.
Thanks
Hi Wendy,
There isn't a way to force a single slide or lightbox to open in a new browser window or tab, but you could create a one slide course and link to the that within your existing course. When you create a URL and choose to hyperlink to it you can decide if you'd like it to open in a new window/tab.
