Wendy,  thanks for responding.  I guess I was expecting something different.

In your example... if i have 40 slides and add a new slide after slide 10... i would have to reset the variable on each slide after 10 to adjust for the new slide.

I dont mind adding the trigger to each slide but what am i saving from just putting the number right on the slide?

This number slides is a serious deficiency in storyline... hope they resolve it soon.
